Let's us take refuge in Lord Buddha


Lord Gautama Buddha is the last Buddha to apper in the world. Before he became a Buddha, he was called Siddhartha. 



Prince Siddhartha was born into a royal family belonging to the Shakya dynasty at Lumbini Sal garden. His parents are goddess Mahamaya and king Suddhodna. Prince Siddhartha was a great noble prince born on Vesak poya day. The prince learned the craft well. He married princess Yasodara at a young age. The prince and princess lived very comfortably. One day the prince saw the four omens and realized the futility of lay life. It was Esala full moon poyaday. Prince Siddhartha gave birth to a son named Rahula to princess Yasodara. On this night prince Siddhartha left to search for the truth.

Siddhartha Bosathanan spent 6 years in hard work. Here he tried to find the truth by suffering the body excessively. But that too was of no avail. So the central solution was adopted. That is to be moderate without giving too much pleasure or too much sorrow to the body. Shortly there after, the Bodhisathwa lord was able to realize the truth. That is, Siddhartha Bosathanan attained enlightenment near Esathu Bo Ruka. That day is Vesak full moon poya day.

 

Since then, the Lord Buddha preached the dhamma to the creatures of the world. They pointed out the path to Nirvana. The Dhamma was first preached to paswaga monks. After that, Lord Buddha preached the Dhamma for 45 years, helping the needy and treating the creatures of the world with great kindness. Lord Buddha passed away at the age of 80, shaking the whole world. This incident also happened on Vesak poya day. 


Accordingly, Vesak poya day "Sambudhu Themagula" is remembered every year by Buddhists around the world. For that, various rituals are performed.

                    There are three indigenous dance traditions in Sri Lanka. They are the Up - country dance tradition, the Low - country dance tradition and the Sabaragamuwa dance tradition. These dance traditions are valuable heritages for our country.                  The Up-country dance tradition popular areas are Kandy, Kegalle, Kurunegala, Harispattu etc. The main traditional Kandyan dance is Wes dance. A power motivation to learn English

                        We, the first year students of the university of the visual and performing arts, had a great motivation program for learning English. It was conducted by lecturer Chathurangi Abeshika on 11.12.2024 and organized by Dr. Sumudu Embogama.                    First, the lecturer showed a video about the journey of learning English.
