A famous performing artist

She is a valuable bright artist in our country. 

                    My favorite famous performing artist is Mrs. Kalasuri Palamakumbura Herath Mudiyanselage Sriyani Weerakoon Kumarihami. Popularly as Sriyani Amarasena, is an actress in Sri Lankan theater, cinema and television, as well as a producer and director. She was born on 14 June 1944 in Meethotamulla, Kolonnawa, Sri Lanka. Mrs Shriyani Amarasena is 80 years old. Her spouse is Mr. Arthur U Amarasena. He is a popular journalist. They have one daughter and one son. She is Inoka Amarasena and he is Sampath Amarasena. 

                    Mrs. Sriyani Amarasena entered stage acting during her school days. "Hathara beeri kathawa" and "Koheda yanne rukmani" are among those dramas. Mrs. Amarasena's first stage drama is P.D.L. Perera's  "Thammanna". Some of her other stage dramas include "Naribana", "Hitha honda ammandi" and "Ves Muhunu". Her first film is "Wings over ceylon". After the marriage, her first film is "Golu hadawatha" in 1968. Some of her other films include "Dasa nisa", "Raththaran amma", "Ahasin polowata", "Viragaya", "Sarungalaya", "Niwena ginna" etc. She has produced films are "Dese mal pipila", "Kulageya" and "Tharanaya". Her first teledrama production is "Dath kakulu pala". She has directed teledramas are "Peraliya", "Thusharaye chaya" and "Mayura asapuwa". Even in the present she is engaged in acting in movies and teledramas as well as then.


                    In addition to this, she can sing sweetly and write beautiful and meaningful songs. She received many awards and is a constant recipient of people's love. She has acted very skillfully in all the roles I have seen. Also, in the 'ridee rayak' concert held for the artists, her performances are presented to the appreciation of the fans. She is a humble, great, loving, respectful and beautiful artist.

Sri Lankan traditional dance

                    There are three indigenous dance traditions in Sri Lanka. They are the Up - country dance tradition, the Low - country dance tradition and the Sabaragamuwa dance tradition. These dance traditions are valuable heritages for our country.                  The Up-country dance tradition popular areas are Kandy, Kegalle, Kurunegala, Harispattu etc. The main traditional Kandyan dance is Wes dance. The Wes costume is the main costume in this dance. The geta beraya is the main drum in this dance tradition. A power motivation to learn English

                        We, the first year students of the university of the visual and performing arts, had a great motivation program for learning English. It was conducted by lecturer Chathurangi Abeshika on 11.12.2024 and organized by Dr. Sumudu Embogama.                    First, the lecturer showed a video about the journey of learning English. After, She talked about the weaknesses within us for speaking English. There are fear of being laughed at by others for pronunciation mistakes, at a loss for enough English words.
